The pretty weather we’ve had lately – bright but still breezy – has been reminding me of being at college in the Midwest. The first sunny days after a cold, gray winter brought out tank tops and Frisbees all over campus – weeks before it was really warm enough for them.
I have always considered myself a fall person, but I have to say, I kind of love this time of year. I think it’s the excitement of being at the very beginning of something new. Maybe you love the cold. Maybe spring flowers make you sneeze. But doesn’t it feel good to see things start growing again?

If your kids are more interested in performing in a show than watching one, the KUDOS Children's Theatre Company is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at 1943 W. Lucile Ave. At the free event, visitors can tour the theater, meet the directors and talk with current performers. A short question-and-answer session will be held, and guests can enter a drawing for a scholarship to participate in one of KUDOS' 2012 summer productions (ages 7 to 19).
