This Weekend With Kids
Last week I received an email alert from the Stockton Stride-Rite store, announcing a sale on Salt-Water sandals (our favorite - the sale ends Monday, by the way.) And I couldn't help but be a little surprised. Springtime already? The weather has been a little warmer and a little brighter lately, and this nice, long weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. But I hear some winter rain is in store for us next week. In the meantime, enjoy the sun:
Preschool Story Time
The Linden Branch Library, 19059 E. Main Street (Hwy 26) in Linden, offers stories, songs, fingerplays and other activities for preschoolers and their families. 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Snap Jackson & the Knock on Wood Players
The acoustic quartet (they're great) play at Whirlow's Tossed and Grilled on the Miracle Mile, 1926 Pacific Ave. Enjoy their mix of bluegrass and Americana from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Isleton Spam Festival
According to the Isleton Chamber of Commerce, this annual celebration has its roots in the floods of 1996. Displaced families, offered shelter at the Hotel Del Rio, noted that the labels on cans of Spam were the only food labels in their cupboards to survive water damage. And a festival was born. This year's event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Hotel Del Rio, 209 Second Street in Isleton. There will be a cooking contest, an eating contest, music and other activities.
